aaaa hh, February. The month when our thoughts turn to love, to a celebration of Black History, to the hope of warmer weather, to looking forward to Spring Break. For many, February is also a time to reassess those New Year's resolutions--or forget about them altogether. In the spirit of not giving up on your dreams--or your resolutions--we decided to dedicate this issue to Change. We're telling you stories of changes we've made and seen in our own lives, with the hope that you'll be motivated to make some changes in your own. After all, it is only through change that progress is made.

aaaaThis month's featured articles will answer all your questions about Change. Do you embrace change or shy away from it? Take the quiz by new contributor Leilani Grossbauer in her article Winds of Change to find out. Not sure you're ready to make any big changes? No problem! Melissa Busse has some easy and practical ideas for small changes with a big impact on your health in the Bod Squad. Ever wonder how many changes you undergo in a single day? Amy Bangerter will exhaust you with a description of her constantly changing days, in her article, The Times, They are a-Changin'. Feeling helpless to make any difference in our cynical world? Angela Arlia offers a Niceness Challenge in her Be the Change. Unhappy in your job but afraid to switch paths? Claire Roberts shares her experiences with making a leap of faith in the corporate world in Being Oprah. And new contributor Rachel Morrissey gives us a multitude of reasons why 2007 will be even better than 2006, in this issue's Top 31 List.

aaaaAll this, plus our regular columns by the Grammarian, Angie, and the Sassy Chef. What better way to start the month?

aaaaNeed even more proof that change is not only possible but desirable? A year ago, 31 Magazine debuted on the Internet. Since that time, it has gone from not even appearing in a list of Google search results for the terms "31" and "magazine", to being number one in such a listing. This is all thanks to you, our faithful readers. We hope this trend, that has changed 31 from an obscure pipedream publication to a bona fide, widely read on-line magazine, will continue to grow in our second year.

aaaaEnjoy this issue! And please share with us your thoughts on change, by sending an email to thirtyonemag@yahoo.com. Change: We're fans of it. In the wise words of Sheryl Crow: "I think a change will do you good."
