Ooh-la-la
French Toast:
3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 cup oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp allspice
6 slices firm bread
Preheat
a pan or a griddle on medium-high heat (about 350 degrees). In a
large, flat dish (I use a pie pan) lightly beat the eggs and milk.
In a separate dish mix oats, sugar and spices.
Dip
a slice of bread in the egg mixture, turning to coat, then put into
oat mixture, turning to coat. Place coated bread in hot pan. Cook
for 3-5

minutes
on each side, or until the egg is cooked and the sugar is slightly
carmelized. Serve with warm fruit compote, or maple syrup.
Warm
Fruit Compote:

large peaches or nectarines, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup brown sugar
Place
fruit and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring
gently, for five minutes, until fruit has released its juice and
has formed a thin syrup. Serve immediately.
