aaaahis recipe is not only great tasting, but is also great for your heart! Use a wholegrain or multigrain bread for added flavor and goodness.

a

Ooh-la-la French Toast:

3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 cup oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp allspice
6 slices firm bread

Preheat a pan or a griddle on medium-high heat (about 350 degrees). In a large, flat dish (I use a pie pan) lightly beat the eggs and milk. In a separate dish mix oats, sugar and spices.

Dip a slice of bread in the egg mixture, turning to coat, then put into oat mixture, turning to coat. Place coated bread in hot pan. Cook for 3-5

minutes on each side, or until the egg is cooked and the sugar is slightly carmelized. Serve with warm fruit compote, or maple syrup.

Warm Fruit Compote:

6-8 large peaches or nectarines, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup brown sugar

Place fruit and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring gently, for five minutes, until fruit has released its juice and has formed a thin syrup. Serve immediately.
