aaaaa elcome
to 31 Magazine's April issue! This month, we're all about Spring: colors,
activities, foods, and enjoyment. There's nothing better than taking a
stroll through the park on your lunch break with no jacket, or shopping
for new skirts and sandals to wear to an outdoor party, or just settling
in at a sidewalk cafe for a little reading and people-watching in the
sun. And how can we forget the lovely longer days that come with the season?
Just knowing it's still light enough for a walk after dinner lifts our
spirits.
aaaaaThis month, we're pleased to bring you
fresh, new articles on a range of topics we're sure you'll enjoy. The
Sassy Chef starts us out with a fabulous recipe for refreshing lemon
rolls, Amy Bangerter gives us several entertaining reasons to browse the
children's book section with her review of three
books by Nick Sharrat, and Melissa Busse will have you taking notes
as you read her tips on How to Meet a Guy in 10
Easy Steps. We also entreat you to check out a very moving piece of
fiction by Claire Roberts.
aaaaaGiven the Spring theme, we'd be remiss
if we didn't address the issue of Spring cleaning. Sisters Holly Beal
and Marni Myers discuss how nature and nurture collided to make one of
them messy, the other one a neat-freak, in "Confesssions
of a Slob" and "Confessions of a
Neat-Freak".
aaaaaAs usual, we bring you a Top
31 List, and some tips on proper English from the Grammarian.
aaaaaStay tuned and check back in a week
or two for additional articles, including a how-to on retiling your bathroom
floor from the Nuts 'n' Bolts handyman, another hilarious commentary on
work-place and commuter frustrations in Angie's column, and the debut
of the Bod Squad. We will also be pleased to soon feature the first article
in a multi-part series about Generation X'ers who are making a difference
in their communities.
aaaaaWe hope you enjoy this issue and all
its Spring-like abundance. As always, we welcome your feedback
and submissions.
Spring
is a great time to be 31!

Myers, Editor-in-Chief
