Late-Night
Confessions
By Marni Myers
late-night
confessions
furtive phrases bubbling up
in the semi-darkness of lamp light and computer-screen glow
drama, prose, stilted, ambling,
making its way from synapse to keypad to untitled document 1
words ooze forth of their own accord
cathartic, self-indulgent exercise in making a voice heard
reliving random, scattered moments--
loves, hurts, road trips, eating ice cream,
playing Pictionary on a Saturday night
nora jones undulates in the background,
mellow, sultry, sympathetic,
luring a reluctant memory onto the page,
disguised as fiction,
making itself at home
